SUMMARY
Maintain and supervise a profitable Meat Department of retail store by performing the following duties. Maintain profitability and production standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provide excellent customer service. Follow company Policies and procedures.
- Prepares daily schedule and directs activities of employees. Conducts in-service training for employees.
- Estimates requirements to maintain good variety of products. Orders merchandise from warehouse and suppliers.
- Checks in merchandise, verifies quantities, and prepares paperwork.
- Cuts, trims, and bones carcass sections or prime cuts to reduce to cooking cuts such as roasts, steaks, chops, stew cubes, and grinding meat. Ability to accurately perform cutting test. Cleans, cuts, and weigh meats, fish and poultry. Places meat in containers to be wrapped and displayed. Affixes required labels to products. Places meat on trays in display counter. Wraps and Weights meat for special orders. Unloads meat from delivery truck and stores meat into refrigerator.
- Cleans and sanitizes shelves, bins, tables, coolers, grinders, meat containers and work areas to meet required regulations and company standards.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises 1 or more employees in the Meat Department. Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 80 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme cold and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
