Dietitian - Temporary

Organization Description: Food For Thought (FFT) is a nonprofit that provides comprehensive nutrition services to people in Sonoma County affected by serious medical conditions. Our services include medically tailored weekly groceries and prepared meals, vitamins and supplements, and nutrition education. We are located in Forestville in a beautiful building surrounded by organic gardens. FFT operates with a staff of 25 and over 700 volunteers. Position Summary: This temporary position will begin full-time while our RDN is on parental leave. Once our RDN returns from parental leave, this position will transition to project-based work.

The dietitian is a member of our two-person nutrition department. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to meet clients where they are without judgment, be open to learning new things, be detail-oriented, and be able to work with and supervise volunteers. Bilingual Spanish and English applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Project Work

• Review Food For Thought's client menus for nutritional content and target calorie counts
• Create new client menus tailored to common medical conditions experienced by Food For Thought's clients
• Work with IT to ensure that new menus are accurately reflected in Salesforce and we can use them while taking food orders for clients
• Provide updated nutrition assessments for Food For Thought's long-term clients
• Write nutrition summaries for community supports eligible clients

Ongoing Work

• Assessing clients in person and over the phone who require medically tailored nutrition due to serious medical conditions

• Conducting intakes and providing medical nutrition therapy to new clients
• Follow up with existing clients to ensure their needs are being met and troubleshooting issues as they arise, including monitoring and evaluating MNT goals and plans
• Providing nutrition education and ongoing coaching to clients in the program
• Reviewing medical records and providing MNT based on client conditions

• Registered Dietitian
• Passion for Food For Thought’s mission
• Fluent in English and Spanish - Ability to speak, read, and write with proficiency in both languages preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and familiarity with using databases. Experience working in Salesforce strongly preferred
• Detail-oriented, extremely organized, and superior time management ability
