Position Overview
The Annual Drive and Community Relations Director is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the annual Food For The Hungry (FFTH) Drive. This role serves as a key liaison between FFTH and the community, ensuring the successful planning, organization, and execution of all activities related to the annual drive. The coordinator also represents FFTH positively within the community and at various events and venues.
Time Commitment
While the position is not full-time, hours vary depending on the time of year.
January and October: Approximately 15–20 hours per week
February–September (“off” months): Approximately 30–40 hours per month
November and December: The busiest months, averaging 25–30 hours per week
Drive Week (second week of December) and the following week: Require an “all-in” approach with additional time as needed to ensure success

Volunteer and Organization Coordination
- Recruit and coordinate volunteers and participating organizations involved in the annual drive.
- Ensure adequate staffing and support for all drive-related activities and events.
Community Partnerships
- Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations that support FFTH. Examples include (but are not limited to):
o Knox County Food Council
o Knox County Sheriff’s Office
o Mount Vernon Arts Consortium (MVAC)
o Mount Vernon City Officials
o OSU Alumni Association
o Psi Iota Xi Sorority
o Rotary Club
Community Committee Chair Coordination
- Schedule and facilitate Community Committee meetings.
Organize the annual Turkey Trot food collection.
- Delivery and retrieval of all marketing materials across the community, including yard signs and collection point signage.
- Transportation of materials to and from the storage unit for the annual broadcast.
- Coordinate with Psi Iota Xi sorority, Knox County schools, Blubaugh’s Garage, and community groups for the purpose of:
- Delivering collection boxes to local schools (elementary, high school, etc) for their annual food collection initiatives.
- Collection of donated food items for storage at Blubaugh’s.
Grants Administration
- Serve as a member of the Grants Committee.
- Ensure proper grant application processes are in place.
- Review applications for completeness and timeliness.
- Conduct necessary follow-up before and after committee meetings.
- Notify grant recipients in a timely manner.
- Monitor follow-up reporting from grant recipients.
- Prepare reports for the Grants Committee and Board of Directors as requested by the Grants Committee chair.
Communications and Correspondence
Serve as the primary point of contact for correspondence related to Food For The Hungry.
Oversee and manage all annual correspondence, including:
- Drive invitation letters
- Volunteers thank-you letters and notes
- Tax acknowledgment letters
- Conduct at least one annual visit with each grant recipient to strengthen relationships and support their efforts to reduce food insecurity in the community
Marketing and Promotion
Collaborate with the Digital Content and Marketing Director to:
- Maintain the annual FFTH event calendar and keep it updated throughout the year.
- Assist with coordination of communications efforts, including the monthly radio show.
- Aid where needed to ensure promotional and marketing initiatives are executed effectively.
Financial Oversight and Reporting
- Present annual budget requests to the Finance Committee.
- Provide activity reports to the Board of Directors.
- Ensure accurate accounting and reporting for events that support the annual drive.
General Expectations
- Dependable Attendance: Maintains reliable and consistent availability, with flexibility to meet the seasonal demands of the position.
- Current and in good standing Driver’s License to remain current
- Professional Conduct: Demonstrates professionalism, ethical behavior, and a positive representation of Food For The Hungry in all interactions.
- Confidentiality: Handles all sensitive information with discretion and in accordance with organizational policies.
- Follow-Through: Completes assigned tasks in a timely and thorough manner, with attention to detail.
Working Conditions
Physical Requirements:
This position is primarily sedentary, with occasional lifting of objects up to 40 pounds. Frequent use of hands and fingers is required for typing, handling materials, and other tasks. The employee must have sufficient vision to read and work at a computer or similar close-range tasks.
Environment:
Work may take place indoors or outdoors, depending on seasonal needs and task requirements. The role requires clear verbal communication to share information and collaborate effectively with volunteers, staff, and community partners.
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10.0 – 30.0 per week
