The Driver 1 Non-CDL (Grocery Rescue) plays a key role in Food Bank of the Rockies’ food rescue efforts by picking up and delivering food products, supplies, and materials to and from multiple sites. Routes are primarily focused on Grocery Rescue, with occasional donor and food drive pickups as needed. This position loads and unloads product and operates vans, food trucks, and 26’ box trucks under 26,000 lbs GVWR. The role regularly interacts with volunteers, Hunger Relief Partners, donors, and the general public.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position working approximately 40 hours per week. Work schedule is from Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:30pm and may occasionally include evenings and Saturdays based on business needs. Local travel only, no overnight trips are required.

What You’ll Do
- Pick up donated food products from food drives and donors and deliver them to agencies
- Unload incoming products as well as load the truck with outbound food products according to delivery specifications and within Food Bank of the Rockies policies
- Maintain an organized, clean, and sanitized cab, and cargo area, and upkeep food handling equipment.
- Responsible for performing daily vehicle inspections and other vehicle schedules according to DOT regulations
- Perform light vehicle maintenance tasks (fluid levels, tire maintenance, and sanitation)
- Maintain food industry standards and certification for proper product handling, storage, and distribution in accordance with Food Bank of the Rockies and Feeding America standards
- Assist in communicating with, and maintaining congenial relationships with, donors, agencies, and volunteers
- Maintain receipts, invoices, and other required paperwork for each site
- Support the Transportation department by covering additional routes as needed
- Occasionally assist with warehouse duties including but not limited to: record-keeping, waste, inventory counts, sanitation, equipment, building and grounds maintenance
The Driver 1 Non-CDL demonstrates the following core competencies in daily practice:
- Instills Trust: Always prioritizes safe driving and DOT compliance, demonstrates respect and professionalism through all interactions with team members and externally with partners, donors, and neighbors.
- Collaborates: Driver can communicate and coordinate with the transportation, warehouse, and receiving teams when it comes to deliveries and donations being brought back to the facility. Supports and assists other drivers when needed.
- Customer-Centric Focus: Demonstrates cultural awareness and compassion when working with partners, donors, and neighbors.
- Ensures Accountability: Driver manages their time by arriving on time, maintaining consistent attendance, and completing the necessary pre/post trips needed on daily equipment utilized. Communicates to Transportation management if they lack the appropriate supplies/equipment needed to get the job done.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and excellent driving record
- Minimum 21 years of age required
- Prior experience working in a warehouse environment strongly preferred
- Prior experience working with low-income communities preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish) a plus

- Frequently works outdoors in varying weather conditions and in indoor warehouse environment including cool zones
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds
- Uses heavy equipment daily including step up rider pallet jack, manual scale jack, and automatic walk-behind pallet jack
- Occasionally use office equipment such as computer, mouse, keyboard, and printer
- Daily travel within the Food Bank of the Rockies service area
