Position Title: Dock Specialist

Classification: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Warehouse Manager

Location: Wyoming

Compensation: $20.60/Hourly

The Dock Specialist is responsible for supervising the overall dock operations of receiving inbound and loading outbound products. Keeps warehouse products orderly and in accordance with sanitation standards to include American Institute of Baking (AIB) rules and regulations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee the receiving, unloading, counting, and receipting of all inbound products safely, move products to storage locations or distribution, and efficiently stack, and store the product in the appropriate area
  • Support with the training and managing of up to 6 volunteers daily
  • Check and count freight for accuracy, infestation, and/or damage to incoming food donations and purchased food.
  • Document and complete receiving logs that are captured digitally and uploaded daily
  • Manages the outbound loading and verification process for all outgoing routes and mobile pantries
  • Primary responsible for putting away all incoming loads in a timely manner with support provided as needed
  • Rotates produce, utilizing the first in, first out practice
  • Operate powered equipment, such as an electric pallet jack, for the purpose of loading and unloading inbound and outbound trailers, for moving, locating, stacking, and placement of inventory
  • Accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the forklifts and all other equipment
  • Maintain an accurate, organized, and safe warehouse and receiving/shipping dock, ensuring a clean and orderly work area in compliance with Feeding America (FA), American Institute of Baking (AIB), and Food Bank of Wyoming (FBW) standards.
  • Help when needed with the physical count of the inventory, cycle counts, and annual inventory processes
  • Communicate any equipment maintenance needs

Work Environment

  • Ability to push/pull 120lbs, carry 50lbs, lift 50lbs to waist and lift 40lbs overhead
  • Uses heavy equipment on a daily basis including forklift, stand up/sit down lift truck, step up pallet jack and automatic pallet jack
  • Walking and standing for long periods, sitting intermittently
  • Indoor office environment, occasionally; outdoor work environment frequently.
  • Using office equipment such as a computer, mouse, keyboard, and printer occasionally
  • Occasionally operate and navigate a vehicle within rural communities.
  • Ability to work in cold storage environments with temperatures ranging from 24 degrees Fahrenheit to –10 degrees Fahrenheit.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and online technologies required
  • Experience with customer service in overseeing volunteers preferred
  • Minimum of 1 – 2 years prior experience working in a warehouse function
  • Knowledge of logistics operations and experience operating a forklift a plus

Expected Hours Of Work

This role is considered full-time, non-exempt position working approximately 40 hours per week and eligible for overtime for any work past 40 hours in a standard workweek. This position typically works Mondays 5 am – 2:30 pm, and Tuesdays through Fridays 7:30 am – 4 pm. This role may occasionally work evenings and Saturdays. Occasional travel (1%).
