Key Responsibilities
Accounting Leadership
- Lead and manage all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, job cost accounting, and financial reporting.
- Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and preparation of consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
- Manage and oversee construction accounting processes including job costing, budget tracking, and WIP schedules.
- Work closely with project managers, development teams, and contractors to ensure timely and accurate recording of construction expenses and commitments.
- Coordinate draw processes, lien waivers, retainage tracking, and compliance with lender requirements.
- Ensure accurate and timely accounting for corporate entities, intercompany transactions, and related party arrangements.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support corporate decision-making and strategic planning.
- Ensure timely tax filings and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations in coordination with external tax advisors.
- Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with executive leadership, legal, development, construction and operations teams to support business objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement in accounting systems, processes, and reporting capabilities.
- Coordinate with external auditors for year-end audits and financial reviews.
- Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards.
- Assist with financial due diligence for acquisitions and strategic initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required.
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Significant experience in construction accounting and corporate accounting is required.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
- Proficient in construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, Viewpoint, or similar) and general ERP/accounting systems.
- Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and explain complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Hands-on, proactive, and detail-oriented approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Location: Aventura, FL – This position is fully onsite and requires a daily presence at the corporate office.
