What are the responsibilities and job description for the Employee Relations Manager position at Fond du Lac Reservation?
- Responsibilities: Coordinates employee relation’s functions ensuring that issues affecting attendance and performance problems are addressed, and resources for persons seeking help from personal problems are communicated to employees.
- Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.
Advises supervisors and managers regarding policy application. Gathers information about the work environment to facilitate resolution of employee relation’s problems. Attends management meetings.
Responds to general employee questions regarding personnel policies and benefits relevant to employee relations.
Respond to staff inquiries regarding EAP resources.
Distribute updated EAP materials (e.g., brochures, contact info, website links) and ensure information is up-to-date and accurate.
Advises managers/directors to address the needs and/or performance of employees as per policy.
Assists with tracking grievances and ensures that they are responded to in a timely manner.
Assists in the investigation and resolving of grievances and complaints as requested.
Assists in the gathering of information for reports (i.e., annual turnover reports, attendance reports, etc.). Assist in the monitoring of employees absent due to work or non-work-related illness or injury. Maintains contact with those employees in an effort to return employees to work as soon as possible.
Ensures that the confidentiality of all employees is respected with absolutely no infractions.
Contributes to employee newsletter as requested.
Participation in EAP specific trainings, memberships, networking opportunities.
Assists in the Crisis Intervention Training Program. Participates in the development of the program. Attends meeting and training as required or needed.
Appropriate work attire is required.
Must attend all mandatory department trainings.
Ensures confidentiality of financial records and all records for employees and/or clients.
Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.
Maintains a clean and organized work area.
- Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, human resource management or 4 years work experience in social work, psychology, counseling, human resource management is required or a combination of education and experience; master’s degree preferred
- Normal physical requirements.
Experience in working with culturally diverse populations is required.
Demonstrated experience working with tribal communities and tribal members preferred.
Strong understanding of tribal governance, culture, and community dynamics is preferred.
Knowledge of computer applications to include word processing, databases and/or data entry, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Outlook is required.
Analytical ability and the ability to deal with many kinds of human resource management issues are required.
Tact and good judgement are required.
Ability to obtain a gaming identification badge to work in and around Casino property and facilities.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.
Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the Fond du Lac Reservation’s Personnel Policies.
Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks.
Travel is required.
