The Fond du Lac Humane Society is dedicated to providing humane care and treatment to all animals needing protection, and to enhancing the lives of animals and people through education, adoption, and compassion.
General Position Summary: The Customer Service Specialist is responsible for interacting with all customers, donors, and volunteers in a friendly and positive manner. This position is responsible for the administrative portion of animal return to the owner, vaccine clinics, and adoptions. This position is 5 days a week and applicants must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including Saturdays. The general hours are 11:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and 2 Saturdays a month with some flexibility.
Position Responsibilities:
- Enter and maintain accurate data for all animal adoptions, reclaims, and transfers.
- Answer telephone and in-person questions, responding with knowledge of FDLHS and our animals and events.
- Assist the leadership staff with correspondence and other administrative tasks and projects.
- Handle all credit card and cash transactions efficiently and accurately.
- Check voicemail messages and promptly return calls.
- Greet people entering the shelter, and wish them farewell as they leave.
- Keep the front desk and lobby clean and tidy.
- Work together with FDLHS volunteers and staff in a friendly and collaborative spirit.
- Perform duties independently with minimal supervision.
- Follow processes and procedures.
- Other job duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Solid computer skills, including Excel and Word.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt.
- Must be able to deal tactfully, respectfully, compassionately, and effectively with the public.
- Ability to handle and interact with dogs, cats, and other animals in the shelter, along with a working knowledge of individual animals as well as various breeds of animals and their care.
- Maturity, good judgment, and professional personal appearance.
- Ability to learn and follow FDLHS philosophies, including those related to adoptions and surrenders.
- Ability to read, write, and understand the English language with excellent communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills, as well as being a self-starter.
- Two years of customer service experience in a public setting is required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
- Experience working with cash handling.
