What are the responsibilities and job description for the Extra Help- Event Setup/Teardown position at Fond du Lac County, WI?
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all‑inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Set up and arrange furniture, equipment, and materials according to event layouts, diagrams, or supervisor instructions.
- Linen and skirt tables according to event layouts.
- Ensure all event spaces are clean, safe, and properly maintained before and after events.
- Assist with setting up and testing basic audio-visual and lighting equipment as needed (house microphones, smart boards, TV screens, splitters, etc).
- Load, unload, move and store equipment and supplies safely.
- Refreshes bathroom supplies, soap and paper products if low before or during an event.
- Empties waste baskets, sweeps, washes, vacuums or dusts floors, countertops, TV screens and tables.
- Ensures that appropriate building doors are locked.
- Responds quickly to last-minute event setup adjustments or customer requests.
- Assists with inventory organization and equipment maintenance as needed.
- Reports any damage, missing equipment, or maintenance issues to the supervisor immediately.
- When applicable and onsite for events, provides courteous and professional customer service to event hosts and guests.
Decision Making/Interaction:
Decisions concerning the order in which cleaning and set ups/break downs are accomplished and the scheduling of the day‑to‑day work routine are made independently. There is interaction with other departments, the general public and others outside of the department.
Desirable Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation principles, and equipment and supplies used in cleaning. Basic knowledge of audio-visual and lighting equipment. Ability to lift fifty pounds. Ability to bend, twist, walk, squat and use of ladders. Basic computer skills to obtain and review event set up instructions. Ability to work independently and adjust to different situations. Ability to work both indoors and outdoor settings. Strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays are required by event schedules.
Training and Experience:
Graduation from high school.
