Responsibilities
- Assist the oral surgeon during a variety of surgical procedures, including extractions, biopsies, implant placements, and other complex treatments.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up surgical tools, and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
- Manage patient flow by greeting patients, taking vital signs, and ensuring their comfort before and after procedures.
- Operate dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners to capture accurate images for diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Maintain detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or WinOMS while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
- Support infection control protocols by practicing aseptic techniques and maintaining a sterile environment throughout all procedures.
- Educate patients on post-operative care instructions and answer questions related to their treatment plans.
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure efficient four-handed dentistry practices that enhance patient comfort and procedural efficiency.
- Monitor patient vital signs during procedures to ensure safety at all times.

Experience
Candidates should have prior experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry or specialized fields like pediatric dentistry or oral surgery. Experience with EMR systems such as Dentrix or WinOMS is highly preferred. Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, infection control standards, and anatomy is essential for success in this role. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in chairside assisting techniques—and possess a solid understanding of X-ray operation and medical imaging tools like 3D scanners.
