Position Summary
The Driller-in-Training supports drilling operations while developing the skills required to become a licensed driller. This role is ideal for individuals committed to building a long-term career in the drilling industry. Responsibilities include assisting with daily drilling activities, maintaining equipment and vehicles, and ensuring job site safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Driller with all aspects of drilling operations at job sites, in the shop, and during equipment maintenance
- Prepare tools, materials, and equipment to ensure efficient workflow and minimize downtime
- Support and actively participate in the company’s safety program and safety meetings
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment for all job sites, vehicles, and equipment
- Drive company vehicles as required (approximately 20% of duties)
- Communicate clearly and follow directions from the Driller and Foreman
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with clients and the public
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel out of town as needed
- Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs regularly
- Climb drilling rigs/masts and work at heights safely
- Assist with basic mechanical repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Support metal fabrication tasks, including cutting and welding
- Ensure the Driller has the necessary tools and materials to maintain continuous operations
- Direct all technical or well-related questions to the Driller
Qualifications & Requirements
- Strong desire to obtain a drilling license and advance within the industry
- Valid driver’s license; ability to obtain and maintain a CDL required
- Ability to operate and maintain trucks in both on-road and off-road conditions
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment operation and maintenance
- Basic welding and metal cutting experience preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions
- Self-motivated, dependable, and team-oriented
- Positive attitude with a strong work ethic
- Comfortable working at heights and in physically demanding environments
Work Environment & Expectations

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
