Primary Purpose :
Provide specialized instruction under the direction of Special Education Teachers to Pre-K4-12th grade students for all core subjects.
Qualifications :
Education / Certification :
High school diploma or GED with
Valid Texas Educational Aide (Paraprofessional) Certificate or
College Degree may be substituted for a Texas Educational Aide (Paraprofessional) Certificate
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
Special Knowledge / Skills :
Ability to work well with children and / or teenagers
Ability to communicate effectively, be flexible, punctual, and work within a team
Ability to use Computers, Google suite of products including Google Sheets, Google Drive, Google Docs, and Zoom, Copier, & Audio Visual Equipment
Experience :
Some experience working with children and / or teenagers
Major Responsibilities and Duties : Instructional Support
Provide specialized instruction under the direction of Special Education Teachers to assigned students for all core subjects.
Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
Under the direction of Special Education Teachers, the Teacher Assistant must keep accurate administrative records to include service times, goal progress, and student attendance.
Substitute for the regular teacher on an as-needed basis.
Student Management
Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the Special Education or General Education teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
Keep the student's General Ed and Special Ed teachers informed of the special needs or problems of individual students.
Other
Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
