Contract Workday Financials General Ledger Lead
Location: New York Tri-State Area - Hybrid
Contract: August 2026 or early September 2026 through approximately June or July 2027
Hours: Close to full-time, based on project requirements
Rate: Flexible based on experience
About the Client
Our client is a major healthcare organisation undertaking an important phase of its Workday implementation. They require a senior Workday Financials Functional Lead to provide independent configuration validation, testing support, troubleshooting and post-production guidance.
This is an urgent requirement offering a long-term contract for someone who can work closely with the project team and attend the client site in New York approximately once or twice per week.
Requirements
- Extensive Workday Financials implementation experience across multiple projects
- Strong Workday General Ledger and GL configuration experience
- Broad understanding of Workday Financial Management functionality and business processes
- Previous healthcare industry experience is essential
- Experience validating Workday configuration against design documents and configuration workbooks
- Ability to independently review a Workday tenant and identify configuration gaps
- Based in New York, New Jersey or Connecticut, or within reasonable travelling distance of New York
- Workday certification is preferred, although experienced candidates willing to become certified may be considered
Key Duties
- Validate that Workday Financials and General Ledger configuration aligns with approved design documents and Workday workbooks
- Review GL structures, accounting configuration and related Workday Financial Management business processes
- Support functional, system integration and user acceptance testing
- Investigate and troubleshoot Workday Financials configuration issues
- Support the project through testing, deployment, hypercare and post-production activities
- Verify that financial results and accounting outputs are operating as expected
- Work with finance, accounting, technical and implementation stakeholders
- Provide clear documentation, knowledge transfer and training to internal teams
- Recommend practical improvements while maintaining alignment with the approved Workday design
Desired Experience
- Workday General Ledger, Financial Accounting and Financial Data Model experience
- Exposure to additional Workday Financials areas such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Banking, Business Assets or Expenses
- Previous experience supporting a large healthcare Workday implementation
- Experience working in an advisory, implementation or independent quality assurance capacity
- Strong communication skills with the ability to challenge configuration decisions professionally
- Former Deloitte consultants are welcome, but current Deloitte employees cannot be considered
