The Office of the President Senior Writer position exists to create original, personal, and specific responses to complex constituent correspondence to serve the writing needs of the Relationship Services Department and other areas throughout the ministry. In addition, there may be times when writing will be required for the President and Senior Executive Staff; Due to the variety and complexity of writing assignments handled on a regular basis, a Senior Writer must be a self-motivated respected team member, thoughtful decision-maker, and able problem-solver.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Composes original responses to difficult/sensitive constituent communication from Relationship Services
Searches for and provides needed details for successful completion of complex letter and project assignments
Prepares mail, email, phone scripting, and social media prototype responses for use by Relationship Services
Creates unique responses and/or project content with limited or incomplete background information
Handles personal correspondence and completes writing and research assignments as requested by the ministry President and other members of the executive team
Provides editing support, including promotional copy for other departments
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
Writes, researches, approves, and manages FOF syndicated newspaper column
Researches, develops, writes, and interfaces with Counseling Dept. for online “Family Help” Q&As
Creates a broad range of print and digital content, including blogs, articles, scripting, and marketing copy for departments and spokespersons throughout the ministry
Orthodoxy review of book manuscripts and other ministry resources
Researches, develops, and maintains ministry resource lists
Interfaces with Family Advancement on donor communications
Performs other duties as assigned
Managerial Breadth/Scope of Job as assigned:
Backs up, trains, and engages with fellow Senior Writers as part of a dynamic, cross-functional team

Knowledge/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree required, work toward advanced degree helpful
3-5 years of experience in a Focus position requiring decision-making and little oversight
On-the-job experience/training in handling all types of phone and written communications is required
In-depth understanding of FOF mission, philosophy, values, and objectives as well as solid biblical knowledge

Ability to formulate arguments in a logical manner
Pay Range: $58,236 to $67,077/yr
