Focus Capital Markets is supporting its Connecticut-based hedge fund by providing a unique opportunity for a talented software engineer to work across verticals within the organization, including working with front-office trading professionals. In this role, you will assist the business by developing new reporting applications, building and scaling APIs and working with the business to define technical solutions for business requirements. You will work primarily focus on back-end Java technologies and Python.
Although the organization is outside of the NYC area, it is just as lucrative and would afford someone with career stability, longevity and growth opportunity within the organization. The parent company is best of breed in the hedge fund industry and there are opportunities to grow from within.
You will work onsite Monday-Thursday.

Requirements:
- 5 years of software engineering experience leveraging Core Java
- Experience with SQL.
- Exposure to Python is a preference but not a requirement.
- Experience with REST APIs
- Any front end experience is welcome but not a requirement.
- Bachelors degree or higher in computer science, mathematics or related field.
- Must have excellent communication skills.
