Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Tax Specialist to join our growing accounting firm. This role requires a knowledgeable tax professional who is experienced in tax preparation, compliance, and client service. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical tax skills, excellent organizational abilities, and the ability to communicate tax information clearly and professionally with clients and internal team members.
The successful candidate will support the preparation and review of individual and business tax returns, assist with tax research and compliance matters, and help ensure clients meet their federal, state, and local filing obligations.
Experience with sales and use tax preparation and compliance is a strong plus and will provide additional opportunities for involvement within the firm.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare federal and state tax returns for individuals and business entities.
- Assist with preparation of corporate, partnership, S-Corporation, and individual income tax returns.
- Review tax documents and supporting information for completeness and accuracy.
- Communicate with clients regarding tax documentation, filing requirements, and deadlines.
- Assist clients with tax-related questions and general compliance matters.
- Perform tax research and assist with resolving tax issues.
- Assist with IRS and state correspondence as needed.
- Maintain organized tax workpapers and supporting documentation.
- Monitor tax deadlines and assist with timely completion of filings.
- Assist with year-end tax planning and client information gathering.
- Prepare and file sales and use tax returns as needed.
- Assist with sales tax compliance research, including reviewing applicable state requirements.
- Maintain knowledge of current federal and state tax regulations.
- Collaborate with internal team members to ensure accurate and timely client deliverables.
- Follow firm procedures and quality control processes to minimize errors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of tax preparation experience preferred.
- Experience preparing individual and business tax returns.
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax compliance requirements.
- Experience with Drake Tax Software preferred.
- Experience with QuickBooks or ability to understand client financial information preferred.
- Sales and use tax experience is strongly preferred but not required.
- Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Pay: $52,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
