Primary Purpose:
Corporate Finance plays a critical role in the continued expansion of FOCO globally. The Financial Controller will be responsible for managing and overseeing the financial management and accounting functions of FOCO’s North American division. This includes accounting, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, as well as implementing and maintaining strong internal financial controls. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and a proven track record of improving financial processes and driving company performance. They will show leadership, being able to motivate and coach the regional finance team, help in the decision-making process, and assure compliance with tax law and group policy. This person needs to be results-oriented, team player with a passion for sports.
About the role:
- You will apply your knowledge in accounting to perform account reconciliations, own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes, accounts payable, royalties, audits, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis on financial information. You will also lead the management of the day-to-day administrative functions of the accounting team.
- You will have the opportunities to work closely with the executive, finance, and legal teams, to ensure all bookkeeping, tax, regulatory and legal requirements are met.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the financial operations of the North American division, including the management of the accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
- Areas of responsibility include all accounting operations from billing, accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), general ledger (GL), cost accounting, inventory accounting and revenue recognition.
- Develop business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Assist in documenting internal processes/controls as well as developing improvements as appropriate.
- Implement and maintain robust financial controls and procedures in accordance with IFRS, GAAP and company policies.
- Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization.
- Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports and analysis to senior management on a weekly, monthly, quarterly basis.
- Manage and coordinate the month and year end close reporting process.
- Be responsible for the North American budgeting and cash flow planning.
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses and conduct reconciliations to drive strategic decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations and tax filings.
- Run our financial audits and maintain close relationships with our audit partners to ensure a smooth process.
- Clear accountability and ownership over our Microsoft Dynamics General Ledger system and accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial inputs/outputs - including some elements of reporting and variance analysis to plans and prior year.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, sales, and human resources, to align financial initiatives and drive company performance.
- Manage, develop, and hire the finance team, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial performance.
- Assist in the development and execution of the company's long-term financial strategy.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Professional certification such as CPA, CMA, or CFA is highly desirable.
- 8 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance; public account experience is preferred.
- 4 years in a financial leadership role.
- 4 years of experience in a manufacturing business, direct to consumer, ecommerce business.
- Audit experience not required but highly desired.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and tax regulations
- Have built accounting teams through the implementation of systems, processes, internal controls, and policies.
- Proven experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google G Suite; Advanced Excel skills required.
- General knowledge of EDI (Electronic Data Exchange).
- Expert with Microsoft Dynamics GP and/or Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (Dynamics BC), AP, AR aging, revenue recognition, and bank reconciliations
