Native Gardener/Horticulturist Job Description
Job Summary:
The Native Gardener/Horticulturist is a hands-on role responsible for installing, maintaining, and enhancing flowers, trees, and green spaces, with a focus on native and sustainable gardening. This role is highly visible and involves maintaining high-profile properties in the St. Louis region. Responsibilities include monitoring plant health, pruning, treating native plants, and working closely with clients to meet their expectations. The ideal candidate is passionate about native and sustainable gardening, enjoys direct client interaction, and takes ownership of assigned properties to ensure they are always healthy and beautiful.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have direct oversight over other personnel.
Duties/Responsibilities:

Install and maintain seasonal and native plants.

Prune and trim native trees, shrubs, and flowers.

Mulch, edge, and weed gardens.

Mow, trim, and fertilize green spaces.

Maintain and operate gardening equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers.

Monitor and maintain the health of plants, identifying and addressing pest or disease issues.

Ensure best practices in landscape maintenance operations.

Promote company standards and communicate effectively with team members and clients.

Proactively monitor and maintain assigned sites, reporting issues or enhancement opportunities to managers.

Work closely with Account and Operations Managers to meet customer expectations.

Keep gardens and green spaces clear of debris and litter.

Provide detailed care to native gardens and other high-traffic areas.

Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:

Familiarity with landscaping design and best practices.

Extensive knowledge of regional and native plant life.

Knowledge of local pests and their management.

Knowledge of synthetic and natural fertilizers.

Understanding of state health and safety regulations for landscaping.

Ability to lift heavy objects and remain on feet for long periods.

Passion for the outdoors and plant life.

Bachelor's degree in horticulture or a similar field, is preferred.

Experience in sustainable gardening or working with high-profile properties is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
