Duties
- Perform detailed eye examinations utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to assess visual acuity, ocular health, and physiological function.
- Diagnose and manage common eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, astigmatism, and other ocular diseases with precision and confidence.
- Prescribe corrective lenses, contact lenses, or medications tailored to individual patient needs, ensuring optimal visual outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
- Educate patients on eye health, preventive care strategies, and treatment options while providing exceptional customer service to foster trust and satisfaction.
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists, opticians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans effectively.
- Stay current with advancements in ophthalmology, medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and aseptic techniques to ensure best practices are followed at all times.
Experience
- Experience in ophthalmology or optometry practice with a strong foundation in optical experience and patient care.
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy of the eye, and medical coding practices relevant to eye health services.
- Familiarity with EMR systems and EHR systems for efficient documentation and record management.
- Ability to perform vital signs assessments when necessary as part of comprehensive patient evaluations.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with sales aptitude for recommending appropriate optical products or accessories.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure compliance with privacy standards during all patient interactions.
