Manufacturing Engineer Technician II

Recent expansion at the Mesquite facility has opened a Manufacturing Engineer Technician II position. This person will perform production sustaining activities for the Metal Fabrication department to maximize quality, productivity and safety, and drives continuous improvement and optimization.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Supports the daily production needs related to the operation and programming of the laser, press brake, robot welder, pump testers, assembly lines and paint equipment
- Monitors the following processes each morning:
- Laser cut quality is within acceptable criteria
- Laser programs produce parts which match prints
- Press brake programs and tooling produce parts which match prints
- Revisions of formed parts match the current drawing amendments
- Robot weld quality is within acceptable criteria
- Preventative maintenance is up to date on laser, press brake and robots
- Increases production, assets capacity and flexibility, while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining quality standards
- Allocates and utilizes resources effectively to produce optimal results
- Collects and analyzes data to find places of waste, over processing or overtime
- Performs inspections of product throughout production cycle to ensure quality
- Maintains and modifies PLC-based automated conveyor systems, HMI's and drive systems
- Performs low-level software development and documentation for PLC controls
- Troubleshoots networks (Ethernet, Device Net, etc.)
- Interprets quality control requirements to key personnel within the company
- Maintains an open dialogue with other engineers and managers to coordinate activities, resolve problems and improve performance/productivity
- Other duties as may be assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of PLC programming and trouble-shooting, automation technology, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory, and/or manufacturing processes
- Experience with metal fabrication, including laser nesting, laser cutting, CNC press brake, welding, robotic welding, tube bending and punching
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, experienced in handling several projects simultaneously
- Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Team leadership skills, able to convey a vision and drive results
- Adept with decision-making, root cause analysis and problem-solving
- Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives
- Solid understanding of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and business management principles
- Proficient with databases, software development and Microsoft Office Suite
- Previous experience in the Outdoor Power Equipment or Power Tools industry a plus
- Able to handle working on and completing projects within tight deadlines while maintaining professionalism
Education and Experience:
- Technical Engineering degree or similar discipline preferred
- 3-5 years' experience in technical engineering or similar environment
- 8-10 years' experience in light to medium industrial equipment manufacturing
- 3-5 years' experience with robotic systems and / or CNC equipment
- Familiarity with Radan software, SolidWorks and Microsoft Office programs
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Majority of work (approx. 90%) occurs in a production/warehouse environment, with periods of sitting at a desk using a computer and other office equipment. Moderate walking and standing in the warehouse, monitoring inspection and production activities, and interacting with line personnel. Work occurs around machinery with moving parts, moving objects/vehicles; exposure to heat, cold, dampness, humidity, slippery and/or uneven surfaces.
