Qualifications
Responsible for decontaminating, assembling, and inspecting medical instruments and equipment. Operates sterilizers accurately and performs biological and integrator testing while maintaining proper documentation under the direct supervision of the Supervisor. This role also includes rotating and restocking sterile supplies in compliance with infection control standards to ensure a safe and reliable environment for patient care.
Responsibilities
Operational Excellence
- Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization.
- Assemble and organize routine and specialty surgical instrument trays, fulfilling special requests as needed.
- Operate and maintain steam autoclaves, accurately documenting loads, items processed, and maintenance activities.
- Record and verify sterilizer test results.
Quality & Patient Safety
- Inspect equipment for leaks, worn or loose parts, and other signs of disrepair.
- Check sterile supplies to ensure they are current and not expired.
- Report defective equipment promptly to the appropriate supervisor or staff.
Team Member Experience
- Participate in hospital in-service programs related to sterile processing and work specialization.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required
Experience:
- Completion of a Sterile Processing Department (SPD) apprenticeship or prior experience as a Sterile Processing Technician
