FMI’s Private Equity Services Practices focuses on supporting financial sponsors with transaction-related consulting services and value creation efforts specific to firms operating in the built environment. Our clients span the range of financial sponsors from $100 billion AUM firms to independent sponsors and family offices. With FMI’s more than 70 years of exclusive focus on the built environment, our mission is to help financial sponsors unlock growth, enhance performance, and create lasting value in this vital industry.
We are seeking a high-energy, entrepreneurial senior consultant to join our growing team. The qualified individual will spend 90% of their time working with our financial sponsor clients providing advisory services including commercial due diligence, operational due diligence, value-creation and other transaction support. In this role, you will gain first-hand experience working with the stakeholders in the deal process and be a trusted advisor. The role will engage with confidential information and be at the leading edge of M&A activity occurring in the built environment.
This is a full-time opportunity that requires limited travel (<10%) and will be based out of our corporate headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Responsibilities
- Work directly with principals and partners to assess, analyze and develop a methodology to address our clients’ most important strategic initiatives
- Project manage consulting engagements with accelerated timeframes that are research intensive and require strong teamwork
- Source insights from conducting interviews of leading industry stakeholders, mining existing information sources and leveraging FMI’s 70 years of experience servicing the leading organizations in the industry
- Develop compelling presentations and reports that tell a story to deliver strategic insight
- Engage with executive-level leadership at our client organizations to deliver the findings and recommendations of our engagements
- Actively engage in thought leadership development to support FMI’s point of view in the industry
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance or information systems; MBA or an equivalent master's degree from an accredited top-tier college or university is preferred
- Minimum of 5-7 years of professional services experience with strong consultative skills. Prior strategy consulting and M&A consulting experience preferred; private equity, investment banking or other M&A disciplines considered as well.
- Exceptional project management and experience leading a team in a fast-paced consulting environment required
- Entrepreneurial spirit, strong emotional intelligence and track record of accomplishment
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to exercise sound independent judgment in an ambiguous environment
- Team oriented nature and ability to provide support and guidance to early tenure professionals
- Time management skills, ability to manage competing priorities, and an ability to execute at a high-level under tight time constraints
- Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, analytical, problem solving, interpersonal and relationship-building skills
