FMI – The Food Industry Association: We’re Hiring an Accounts Payable Assistant (Hybrid Role)
Are you detail-oriented, customer-focused, and interested in supporting the financial operations of an area trade association? FMI is looking for an Accounts Payable Assistant to join our Accounting team.
Quick Snapshot: In this role, you’ll be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of FMI Accounts Payable, ensuring proper invoice coding, 1099 reporting and tax compliance.
What You’ll Do in This Role?
- Process vendor invoices, reviewing proper coding, documentation, and payment amount.
- Review vendor invoices for sales and use tax compliance and 1099 reporting.
- Facilitate vendor onboarding (obtaining tax and banking forms).
- Assist with vendor conflict resolution.
- Maintain/coordinate A/P invoice tracking, vendor files, and accounts payable records.
- Assist with monthly reconciliations.
Education and Skills That You’ll Need to Be Successful:
- A minimum of one to two years of prior professional work experience in a similar role or related field.
- Knowledge and understanding of basic accounting functions.
- Experience with a computerized accounting system is a must.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access is required.
- Excellent telephone and interpersonal communication skills with strong customer service and team orientation.
- Must be self-directed with excellent time and project management skills and an ability to organize, prioritize, and accomplish multiple tasks with strict attention to detail and with minimal supervision.

This position requires you to work out of our Arlington, Virginia office for a minimum of two full days per week. We are happy to offer a $100 monthly transportation reimbursement to offset your commuting costs to and from our office.
