Loan Servicing Specialist and Bookkeeper

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Loan Servicing & Bookkeeping Specialist to support the ongoing administration of our commercial and residential mortgage loan portfolio. This role will be responsible for end-to-end loan servicing functions, investor reporting, and related accounting activities. The ideal candidate has experience in commercial and/or bridge loan servicing, strong accounting skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Loan Servicing

• Manage day-to-day servicing of a portfolio of commercial, bridge, fix-and-flip, and specialty loans
• Board new loans and review loan documents (notes, mortgages, agreements) for accuracy
• Set up and manage borrower payment schedules, including ACH debits
• Process payments, payoffs, extensions, and loan modifications
• Monitor loan performance and track delinquencies
• Maintain accurate and complete loan files and servicing records

Escrow, Taxes & Insurance

• Track property taxes and insurance requirements
• Ensure timely payments and monitor for lapses or deficiencies
• Follow up with borrowers on compliance issues

Investor Reporting & Remittance

• Prepare and distribute investor reports
• Calculate and process remittances, including principal, interest, and fees
• Reconcile investor accounts and ensure accurate reporting

Bookkeeping & Accounting

• Record loan-level transactions (principal, interest, fees, advances)
• Perform daily, monthly, and portfolio-level reconciliations
• Assist with general ledger entries and account balancing
• Support month-end and year-end close processes
• Coordinate with accounting and finance teams

Borrower & Transfer Management

• Communicate with borrowers regarding payments, notices, and servicing updates
• Send ACH debit confirmations and payment notifications
• Manage loan transfers, including borrower communication and setup with new servicers
• Ensure smooth onboarding and deboarding of loans

Compliance & Operations

• Ensure servicing activities comply with internal policies and applicable regulations
• Maintain audit-ready documentation and support internal/external audits
• Assist with process improvements and system enhancements

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in loan servicing, preferably with commercial or private lending products
• Experience with bookkeeping or accounting functions
• Strong understanding of loan documents and servicing processes
• Proficiency in Excel and financial reconciliations
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Encompass a plus
• Mortgage Lending Experience
• Experience with investor reporting and fund structures
• Familiarity with ACH processing and payment systems
