The Host is one of the most important roles in the guest experience. From the moment a guest enters until their final goodbye, the Host sets the tone for warmth, efficiency, and hospitality. A successful host is friendly, organized, calm under pressure, and solution-oriented—always finding a way to say yes.
Core Responsibilities
Greet and welcome each guest with a great attitude and positive body language- Answer phones with professionalism, friendliness, and attentiveness
- Possess a working knowledge of:
- Menu offerings
- Seating layout and options
- Understand and use the OpenTable reservation system and waitlist features
Know seating parameters and communicate clearly what can and cannot be accommodated - Take initiative to create a smooth guest flow, even during peak times
- Demonstrate good knowledge of the menu and basic allergen awareness
- Use the POS system to:
- Process cash and credit card transactions accurately
Assist in bussing and resetting tables when needed- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host area and entryway (including windows and doors)
- Execute opening and closing procedures as assigned
- Complete other duties as assigned
