Job Description



Position Summary:

The Kitchen Manager oversees all back-of-house operations to ensure a clean, efficient, and high-quality kitchen environment. This role is responsible for maintaining food quality, enforcing safety and sanitation standards, managing kitchen staff, and controlling inventory and costs. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with excellent organizational and communication skills who can balance culinary excellence with operational efficiency.


Key Responsibilities:



Kitchen Operations & Leadership


  • Supervise all kitchen staff, including cooks, prep staff, and dishwashers.
  • Schedule, train, and motivate team members to ensure high performance and teamwork.
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations to ensure smooth service and food consistency.
  • Communicate effectively with front-of-house management to coordinate service and menu changes.

Food Quality & Safety


  • Maintain high standards of food preparation, presentation, and consistency.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, health, and sanitation regulations (local, state, and federal).
  • Monitor portion control, waste reduction, and product rotation (FIFO).

Inventory & Cost Control


  • Manage inventory, ordering, and receiving of food and supplies.
  • Track food costs and labor expenses to meet budget goals.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.

Maintenance & Equipment


  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and operational.
  • Coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance when needed.

Qualifications:


  • 3 years of experience in a kitchen management or supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices (ServSafe certification preferred).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in inventory management and cost control.
