Job Summary:
As a Dishwasher/Prep Cook at Flyleaf, you will be an integral part of daily operations, with approximately 60% of your time working on dish and 40% on food prep. This is a great opportunity for someone to immerse themselves in a kitchen environment and build their prep experience and resume.
Key Responsibilities:
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following, keeping in mind that you actual responsibilities may vary as Flyleaf's needs require:
- Operate dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils and cooking equipment.
- Properly store, monitor, organize and rotate cleaning supplies, utensils and other items, and notify management when restocking is required. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the dishwashing area, ensuring all kitchen equipment is properly sanitized and stored
- Sweep and mop designated areas regularly to maintain a clean and safe environment
- Empty and clean trash receptacles and dispose of waste properly
- Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks by preparing and portioning ingredients according to recipes and menu specifications. Follow standardized recipes and preparation techniques to ensure consistency in taste and quality.
- Properly label and store prepared ingredients to maintain freshness and minimize waste and maintain a clean and organized cooking station.
- Follow proper kitchen procedures and adhere to health and safety guidelines, including safe handling of equipment, tools, chemicals, and food products.
- Work in a fast-paced environment, maintaining composure and efficiency during peak service times.
- Maintain open and respectful communication with team members to foster a positive work environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Prep cook experience in a commercial kitchen a plus.
- Basic knife and safety skills required
- Ability to accurately measure and mix ingredients, follow recipes and make conversions, as necessary.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work effectively under pressure.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.
- Able to work all scheduled shifts / posted hours.
- Current food handler's card and other certification as required by federal, state, or local law a plus
