The Senior Scheduler will assess schedule progress, identify risks and delays, and collaborate with project teams to ensure realistic timelines and effective mitigation of schedule deviations. The position requires significant experience in scheduling and a strong understanding of large-scale infrastructure construction.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule Reviews & Updates: Review contractor baseline schedules and updates, ensuring accuracy. Prepare reports highlighting schedule variances and project phase changes.
  • Time Impact & Delay Analysis: Conduct time impact analyses and forensic schedule evaluations to assess delays or disruptions, providing corrective action recommendations.
  • Reporting & Communication: Prepare schedule progress reports and forecasts for leadership and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of risks and concerns.
  • Earned Value & Performance Management: Use Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques to measure performance and align schedule with budget.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify scheduling risks and develop mitigation strategies, adjusting schedules as necessary based on changing conditions.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, contractors, engineers, and agency officials to gather schedule inputs and ensure alignment.
  • Schedule Oversight & Standards: Provide guidance to junior schedulers and develop scheduling best practices to maintain consistency across the program.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field. Advanced degrees are a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum 10–12 years in project scheduling for large-scale construction or infrastructure projects, including significant experience in a senior or lead scheduler role.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong background in civil or transit infrastructure projects, preferably with experience in public transit systems.
  • Software Proficiency: Expertise in Primavera P6 is essential, with proficiency in Microsoft Project and Excel.
  • Project Controls Knowledge: Experience with CPM scheduling, resource/cost loading, progress reporting, and integrating schedule data with cost forecasts.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present scheduling information to both technical teams and executives.
  • Driving License: A valid driver’s license may be required for travel to job sites in Southern California.

Preferred Skills & Certifications

  • Professional Certifications: PMP, PMI-SP, or Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP) certifications are highly valued.
  • Transit & Infrastructure Expertise: Experience with transit agency projects or federally-funded transportation projects is preferred.
  • Risk & Claims Management: Familiarity with delay claims, forensic scheduling, and schedule risk analysis is beneficial.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Earned Value Management (EVM) and advanced Excel skills are a plus.
