We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician Assistant to join our team and help build a welcoming, efficient, and high-quality veterinary practice. Job Summary:
The Veterinary Technician Assistant plays a key role in supporting veterinarians and technicians in delivering outstanding patient care. Responsibilities include assisting with animal handling, preparing patients, maintaining a clean and organized clinic environment, and providing client education.
Key Responsibilities:
Animal Handling & Patient Care:
- Assist veterinarians and technicians in restraining and handling animals during exams and procedures.
- Comfort and monitor animals before, during, and after treatments.
- Assist in preparing animals for surgery, including shaving and sterilizing surgical sites.
Technical & Clinical Support:
- Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
- Set up exam rooms with necessary supplies before appointments.
- Assist with laboratory tests, sample collection (fecal, urine, etc.), and diagnostic imaging preparation.
- Prepare and dispense medications as instructed by the veterinarian.
Client Communication & Education:
- Greet clients and assist with check-in and check-out procedures.
- Educate pet owners on basic care, post-treatment instructions, and preventative health measures.
- Answer client questions in a friendly, compassionate, and professional manner.
Clinic Maintenance & Sanitation:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment.
- Clean and disinfect exam rooms, waiting rooms, and treatment areas.
- Ensure that clinic supplies and medications are stocked and organized.
· Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
· At least 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Technician Assistant (required).
- Strong animal handling and restraint skills.
- Compassionate and patient-focused attitude.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
· Familiarity with veterinary practice management software is preferred.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
· Certification or coursework in veterinary assisting is preferred but not required.
- Experience in a small animal veterinary clinic (preferred).
Work Environment & Schedule:
- Fast-paced, hands-on role in a new veterinary practice.
· Frequent animal handling and regular client interaction.
