Description of Work:
Provide direct management to a team of fraud analysts as well as manage related phases of fraud prevention and detection. Oversee fraud staff workloads and assignments, ensure alerts and case timeframes are being adhered to. Monitor and analyze performance metrics to provide recommendations for software and procedural improvements that reduce exposure of fraudulent activity. Assure compliance of the assigned team with all applicable State/Federal Regulations and bank policies and procedures. Additionally, this position will include the administration functions of the Identity Theft Program.

Supervision Received:
  • Minimum supervision. Reports to SVP/Fraud Risk Manager
Supervision Exercised:
  • Oversight of Direct Reports of Fraud Analysts. Includes assigning work and providing feedback on performance.
  • Oversight of the Identity Theft Program.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage and lead team of fraud analysts to mitigate losses, protect bank assets and reduce reputational risk.
  • Guide staff and provide one-on-one training in handling fraud issues, i.e. Field questions related to Alerts and/or cases, customer inquiries, or internal departments.
  • Monitor and manage fraud software platform alert and case statuses to ensure staff workloads are balanced and timeframes are adhered to.
  • Focus on people development, through coaching and mentoring, and hiring decisions.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, speed, innovation, and excellence while continuously elevating the quality and caliber of controls.
  • Perform quality assurance review related to fraud alerts acknowledgement to maintain departmental quality control standards.
  • Mentor staff in relation to fraud transaction recovery efforts.
  • Complete and handle performance management evaluations and assessments for direct reports.
  • Independently resolve problems while exercising good judgement, that require in depth investigation and/or research.
  • Analyze data, while applying strong analytical skills, through investigations and inquiries to identify discrepancies, spot fraud, and eliminate suspicion.
  • Build and maintain relationships with other business units, cultivating a culture of collaboration, transparency and mutual success.
  • Complete and review fraud case investigations, including but not limited to writing reports and documenting evidence and findings.
  • Create Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) narratives for cases in which regulatory reporting is applicable.
  • Review cases for completeness and make determination as to whether SAR recommendations are warranted. Coordinate filings with BSA.
  • Work hand in hand with Investigation Officer for cases in which law enforcement interaction or complex investigative questioning is required.
  • Support Management in reporting potential fraud, fraud losses, and recovery figures.
  • Stays abreast of changing fraud patterns or regulations in the field.
  • Assists with creating procedures relating to fraud monitoring.
  • Maintain continuing education on Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction (“FACT”) Act, ID Theft prevention and other field related subjects.
  • Ensure the Bank’s Identify Theft Prevention Program remains current and reflects changes in the banking environment and regulatory requirements.
  • Obtain certification of covered accounts from applicable business units.
  • Perform assessment of business unit Identity Theft Risk Assessments.
  • Perform and update the risk assessment of the inventory of covered accounts.
  • Prepare Board reporting on material matters related to the ID Theft Program.
  • Point of contact for ID Theft Compliance Testing and Audit Engagements.
Non-Essential Responsibilities:
  • May be called upon to provide department representation in fraud mitigation related projects
  • Perform other related functions as required by manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance/ related field or equivalent experience and minimum 4 years’ Retail Banking/ Risk Management experience; or in lieu of degree minimum 6 years Retail Banking experience will be considered.
  • 4 years’ previous e-commerce fraud prevention, investigation, or retail fraud prevention experience.
  • 2 years’ supervisory experience
  • CAMS, CFE, or CAFS designated certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • In depth knowledge of bank operations and procedures required.
  • Advanced knowledge of banking, including check, ACH, Merchant Capture, wire, and other payment channel operating rules.
  • Self-starter with demonstrated ability to work both independently and efficiently.
  • Outstanding time management and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with all levels in the organization.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Requires the discretion to handle highly confidential and sensitive material.
  • Must be organized, detail oriented; exhibit flexibility and willingness to work at rapid pace.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) with an aptitude for learning other systems.
  • Experience with Verafin Fraud and BSA/AML software is preferred.
  • Finds a high-volume, dynamic, and team-focused environment engaging.
Pay Range: $85,000 - $95,000

Hours: 37.50

This is an exempt position.

The actual compensation will be based on qualifications, experience and other factors permitted by law.
