Job Summary - West Coast Sales Manager - California
Position Overview
The West Coast Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth across the territory by generating leads, developing new business, and strengthening relationships with existing customers and distributors. This role involves consultative selling of technically complex solutions, contract negotiation, and strategic territory planning. The defined territory will primarily be the state of CA, but may expand into AZ, NV, WA, OR, NM and CO. The emphasis, though, will be on CA.
Success in this position requires a strong understanding of the sales process, outstanding interpersonal and presentation skills, and experience within the water/wastewater industry. This position will be salary commission and a possible end of year bonus.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, grow, and manage new and existing customer accounts by building strong, trust-based relationships with key decision‑makers and influencers.
- Conduct on-site visits to deliver consultative solution-based sales engagements.
- Sell turnkey solutions, including Acoustic Leak Detection services and related technologies.
- Create and execute a strategic territory plan that ensures ongoing growth and market penetration.
- Prepare and deliver compelling proposals and presentations that clearly demonstrate business value.
- Drive opportunities through the full sales cycle—from prospecting to contract award and successful implementation.
- Stay informed about water/wastewater industry trends, competitive offerings, and emerging technologies.
- Expand high-level relationships with business partners to enhance brand visibility and partnership opportunities.
- Maintain strong knowledge of national and regional market dynamics.
- Use CRM tool (Nutshell) and other sales resources to ensure effective communication, follow‑up, and pipeline management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering, economics, or a related field.
- 5 years of sales experience in the water/wastewater industry strongly preferred.
- Existing relationships with municipal and utility contacts in the sector.
- Working knowledge of water distribution systems and municipal operations.
- Familiarity with sewer/storm collection systems and headworks processes.
- Proven ability to present to small and large groups with confidence.
- Willingness to learn the hands-on aspects of equipment installation and system operation.
- Ability to travel domestically 50–65% of the time.
- Strong command of the sales process and ability to manage complex, technical opportunities.
- Excellent customer service mindset and exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated success selling technical or engineered solutions in a fast‑paced environment.
Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
