Fluffy Feather Farm is a private, family-run farm known for exceptional animal care, thoughtful horsemanship, and a calm, intentional approach to farm life. We are seeking a full-time Equine Program Manager to oversee and manage our growing equine program, currently consisting of three horses (expanding to four).

Position Overview

The Equine Program Manager is responsible for the daily care, health, training, and overall management of all horses and equine facilities. This role also includes supporting riders through instruction and feedback, ensuring horses and riders progress safely and confidently. This is a private, non-competitive program. No horse shows, competitions, or travel are required or expected.

Primary Responsibilities

Equine Care & Health

  • Daily feeding, turnout, stall management, and grooming
  • Monitor equine health and soundness; identify issues early
  • Coordinate veterinary and farrier care
  • Administer medications and treatments as needed
  • Manage leg care, skin/feather care, blanketing, and seasonal needs
  • Maintain detailed awareness of each horse's condition and behavior

Training & Riding

  • Provide consistent groundwork for all horses
  • Ride horses regularly for maintenance and training
  • Support calm, safe, family-appropriate horses
  • Address behavioral or training issues early and thoughtfully
  • Adjust workload based on health, weather, and condition

Rider Coaching & Support

  • Provide riding instruction and feedback for family members and friends of the owner as needed
  • Offer beginner and intermediate lessons in a calm, supportive environment
  • Support rider confidence, safety, and skill progression
  • Assist with groundwork, tacking, and horsemanship education
  • Reinforce consistent cues and expectations between horses and riders
  • This is a private, farm-family–dedicated program and is not a public lesson or training operation

Barn & Program Management

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized equine barn
  • Manage tack care, cleaning, and organization
  • Oversee turnout areas, footing, and safety checks
  • Maintain equipment and report maintenance needs
  • Keep simple daily notes/logs on care and observations

Family Support

  • Prepare horses for family rides
  • Provide post-ride care and cooldowns
  • Adjust horses to suit rider needs
  • Be present, calm, and professional around family members and guests
  • Educate and assist when asked, without overstepping

Social Media Comfort

Team members may appear organically in Fluffy Feather Farm content and must be comfortable appearing on camera in a natural, professional way. This is not an influencer role; animal care always comes first.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years of hands-on equine care and management experience
  • Strong riding, groundwork, and horsemanship skills
  • Comfortable providing rider instruction, including for children and beginner riders
  • Experience managing multiple horses independently
  • Solid understanding of equine health and daily care
  • Calm, confident decision-making ability
  • Professional communication skills

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time salaried position with competitive compensation commensurate with experience. The role includes Health, Dental and Vision benefits, Paid Time Off, and a long-term, stable position.

Schedule

Full-time, consistent schedule with weekend rotation or flexibility as needed. Emergency care as required (rare). No travel or show commitments.

Pay: $55, $75,000.00 per year
