Cook real food in one of Morehead City's most loved kitchens.
Floyd's 1921 has been the Crystal Coast's go-to for Southern and coastal seafood cooking since 2005 — shrimp and grits, crab cakes, fresh local fish, and hand-cut steaks, all made from scratch. We're set in a historic downtown home on Bridges Street, and our kitchen was good enough to land us on Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. We're looking for a dependable, skilled Line Cook to join Chef Floyd's team and help us run a clean, fast, scratch-cooking line.
This isn't warm-and-plate. If you take pride in a tight station and food you'd be proud to send out, we want to talk.
What you'll do
- Run a station (sauté, grill, fry, or garde manger) during dinner service
- Prep and cook scratch dishes to our recipes and standards
- Keep your station clean, stocked, and organized before, during, and after service
- Help execute catering and private events when needed
- Follow food safety and sanitation standards every shift
- Communicate with the team and keep your cool during the Friday and Saturday rush
What we're looking for
- Prior line or prep experience in a busy scratch kitchen
- Solid knife skills and an understanding of basic cooking techniques
- Reliability — you show up on time, every shift
- Ability to stand for long periods and work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen
- Availability for evenings and weekends
- A team-first attitude and the willingness to learn
Nice to have (not required)
- ServSafe or food handler certification
- Experience with Southern, Lowcountry, or seafood cooking
- Culinary school or Carteret Community College Culinary Arts training
