Contract Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS/MLS) – Ada, Oklahoma

Floyd Lee Locums | 2 Openings | Rotating Evening & Overnight Shifts

• Pay: $60/hour
• Openings: 2 contract CLS/MLS positions
• Shift A: 1:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. (12-hour, rotating)
• Shift B: 5:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. (12-hour, rotating)
• Start: ASAP. Includes onboarding and training before you take over full shift coverage in January 2027
• Travel & Lodging: May be provided
• Location: Ada, Oklahoma
• Contract Length: 26 weeks, with potential to extend (ongoing)

We're bringing on two experienced lab professionals ahead of planned staff departures. You'll start early, train alongside the current team, and learn the lab's instruments, LIS, and workflows. By January, you'll be ready to cover your shift on your own. You start with support and a clear runway.

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist performs laboratory testing and analysis on patient specimens to help physicians diagnose, treat, and monitor disease. The CLS operates laboratory instrumentation, maintains quality standards, and makes sure test results are reported accurately and on time.

• Perform moderate- and high-complexity laboratory testing
• Analyze blood, urine, tissue, and other specimens
• Verify and report accurate test results
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
• Perform quality control and quality assurance procedures
• Follow CAP, CLIA, and Joint Commission standards
• Follow laboratory safety and infection control protocols
• Maintain accurate patient and laboratory records
• Communicate critical values and findings to healthcare providers
• Participate in proficiency testing and competency assessments

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related science field
• Current certification through ASCP (MLS or MT), AMT (MT), or AAB (MT)
• Completion of a NAACLS-accredited MLS/CLS program preferred
• Must meet CLIA high-complexity testing personnel qualifications

• No state license required. Oklahoma does not license clinical laboratory personnel. National certification (ASCP, AMT, or AAB) and federal CLIA personnel standards apply.
• Facility credentialing: background check, drug screen, immunization/TB records, and BLS if the facility requires it
• Competency assessment completed during onboarding and training

• 1–2 years of recent clinical laboratory experience preferred
• Hospital, reference lab, or acute-care experience
• Laboratory information system (LIS) experience preferred
• Blood Bank experience [required / preferred – confirm]
• Travel or contract experience preferred
• Comfortable working evening and overnight rotating shifts

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of laboratory procedures, quality control, and regulatory standards
• Able to prioritize workload and work independently, especially on off-shifts
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Proficient with laboratory instrumentation and computer systems

• ASCP-certified MLS/CLS
• Recent acute-care hospital experience
• Able to start quickly and adapt to new lab environments
• Strong competency across multiple laboratory departments
