JOB SUMMARY:
This position provides administrative support to Rome/Floyd County Planning Departments. This position will initiate and coordinate the clerical functions required in effective implementation of administrative policies of the department and others.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Basic knowledge of zoning, land use, and historic preservation and/or completion of statewide training within 6 months of hire.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet; Tyler Munis a plus.
- Knowledge of Zoning Procedures Act.
- Knowledge and familiarity with public meetings.
- Knowledge of clerical bookkeeping principles and practices.
- Strong computer skills for filing out reports, maintaining accurate records and reports.
- Ability to prioritize work and manage time effectively.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions from multiple supervisors.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and public.
- Ability to work independently and organize time effectively.
- Ability to perform detailed work with numerical data accurately.
- Ability to get along well with diverse personalities-tactful-mature-flexible.
- Ability to read site plans a plus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent with some college. (Local Government or Municipal experience preferred).
- Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in a administrative nature preferred.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license in the state of residency.
- Must obtain National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) 100 and 700 within three (3) months of employment.
