Solid Waste Manager

We are looking for a Solid Waste Manager!   

Direct the daily operations of the Solid Waste and Recycling department, seek out solutions for operational efficiency by analyzing data, communicating goals to the public and stakeholders, and engage the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
• Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
• Visits remote sites to deliver supplies and supervise employees.
• Makes purchases and manages budgets.
• Plans for future improvements.
• Compiles monthly reports for trash and recycling.
• Applies for grants/additional funding.
• Conducts community programming in schools, at recycle events, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or a related field and two (2) years of solid waste, public works or related experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Requires possession of a valid driver’s license.
