Outside Sales Representative
Location: St. Louis, MO
Compensation: $75,000 base 1.5–2% bonus
Schedule: Full-time
About the Role
A growing industrial products company is looking for a customer-focused, technically minded professional to join their sales team.
This is a great opportunity for someone coming from an automotive parts, counter sales, customer service, or technical product background who wants to build a career in outside sales.
You’ll work closely with customers, learn a technical product line, support sales activity, and gradually take on more responsibility with accounts and business development. Over time, the role will develop into a full outside sales position with commission potential.
What You'll Do
- Work directly with customers to understand their needs and recommend products
- Provide product and application support
- Develop strong relationships with customers and internal teams
- Assist with quotes, orders, product questions, and follow-up
- Identify potential sales opportunities within existing and new accounts
- Support the outside sales team and learn the local market
- Develop technical knowledge of industrial products and applications
- Take on increasing responsibility for customer accounts and sales activity
- Transition into a full outside sales role as experience and product knowledge develop
What We're Looking For
- Customer service, counter sales, parts, or technical sales experience
- AutoZone or similar automotive/industrial parts experience strongly preferred
- Technical aptitude and willingness to learn
- Comfortable working directly with customers
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Interest in developing a career in outside sales
- Self-motivated and dependable
- Industrial or fluid power experience is a plus, but not required
Career Progression
The first year will focus on building product and customer knowledge while supporting the sales team. As you gain experience, you’ll take on more direct sales and account responsibility.
The long-term opportunity is to move into a full outside sales position with commission potential, typically within 1–2 years.
