Position Overview

With a more than 200-year history, Flowserve remains focused on growth and continuous improvement. To support impactful goals and drive this continued growth, the company is investing in its talent function, which will be a large piece of the broader HR strategy moving forward. It is furthering its commitment to the talent function by hiring a new Director, Talent Management, which will lead our enterprise Talent Management function. This critical leader will report to our CHRO and will partner with senior business leaders.

This role will be accountable for the organization’s broader talent strategy. The function currently has a strong foundation, and this leader will assess and find ways to improve the employee experience and TM function. Initial areas of focus will include employee engagement and retention, career development, early careers programs, performance management and succession planning.

The ideal candidate will bring a breadth of knowledge in TM from best-in-class companies, build upon Flowserve existing programs, and demonstrate strong execution. Experience within manufacturing- focused organizations, especially with a global presence, will be critical. This role will need to be a pragmatic leader who can prioritize and progress initiatives from ideas to reality.

Key Accountabilities

  • Find and assess areas of potential improvement and build upon existing successes within the Flowserve talent management function.
  • Define a holistic talent strategy across the entire employee lifecycle.
  • Implement talent strategies that boost employee engagement and retention; ensure these programs align with employee needs to create meaningful impact.
  • Oversee career development and strategic planning, ensuring the company has a deep bench of talent that continues to develop and refill as leaders are promoted from within.
  • Create processes for the company to determine which employees are ready for advancement now or when they will be ready in the future.
  • Ensure employees of all backgrounds have an avenue to success and continued career development within Flowserve.
  • Advance the company’s early careers program, expanding it globally and into different areas of the business.
  • Develop performance management processes to ensure the delivery of consistent, relevant and timely feedback.
  • Partner closely with senior leaders across the business on talent needs, and build credibility as the thought leader and advisor on talent practices.

Qualifications & Experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Master’s degree in Business, HR or Organizational Development preferred.

Experience

  • 15 years of progressive HR and talent experience, preferably within global industrials.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience with all aspects of the talent management function, including career development and succession planning, employee engagement and retention, and performance management.
  • Experience leading talent management initiatives within a large, complex organization with a plant manufacturing environment
  • Knows what best-in-class talent programs look like and understands how to evolve a function from good to great.
  • Demonstrated success in setting talent strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Experience using HR technology and data to drive decision-making.

  • Ability to quickly pivot between strategic and tactical execution, quickly translating theory to business cases, and then clear plans to execute.
  • Business-oriented; understanding how to prioritize and deliver meaningful programs to our business leaders.
  • Practical and pragmatic, serve as a sounding board and delver real solutions quickly.
  • Collaborative and nonhierarchical; pushes for progress and not perfection.
