Position Summary
The gas lift shop technician is responsible for inspecting, preparation, documentation, and inventory management of all equipment used in field operations. This position ensures all inventory is inspected, documented, and properly set up for field operations while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational efficiency. The shop had also provides support for general shop hand activities and assists operations as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Safety and Quality Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and work practices at all times.
- Comply with all quality standards, inspection requirements, and operational procedures established by the organization.
- Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, equipment deficiencies, or quality concerns to management.
Inspection and Quality Control
- Inspect all new and used equipment received by the shop.
- Evaluate gas lift equipment for damage, corrosion, wear, or other defects that may affect performance.
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections in accordance with company procedures.
- Complete all required inspection, testing, and quality documentation for new and used line inventory.
- Ensure all inspection records are accurate, complete, and properly maintained for traceability purposes.
- Assist with pressure testing and other verification processes as required.
Preparation
- Efficiently and accurately set up gas lift valves according to each job design
- Hydro test and drift all equipment
- Tighten and test other equipment required for field operations
Inventory Management
- Receive in and count all incoming equipment
- Properly organize all equipment in designated locations
- Help maintain accurate inventory records and ensure proper tracking of all assets
- Assist with inventory counts, audits, and reconciliation activities as required
Shop and Operational Support
- Assist with loading, unloading, moving equipment, and materials.
- Support field operations by preparing equipment and materials for upcoming jobs.
- Perform routine shop maintenance and housekeeping duties.
- Operate forklifts and other shop equipment safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Assist with additional shop, maintenance, and operational tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in oilfield operations, manufacturing, or shop environments preferred.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools, measuring devices, and inspection equipment.
- Ability to accurately complete inspection, testing, and inventory documentation.
- Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in a shop environment for extended periods.
- Ability to safely handle tools, equipment, and materials.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
