Role Description The Estimator role is a full-time, on-site position based in San Antonio, TX. This role is responsible for reviewing project plans, specifications, and addenda to prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for underground utility projects. The Estimator analyzes labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs, develops detailed bid proposals, and participates in bid reviews. Day-to-day tasks include collaborating with project managers, field supervisors, and suppliers to validate pricing and constructability, as well as tracking historical cost data to improve future estimates. The Estimator will also support pre-construction planning, respond to requests for information, and help maintain estimating tools and databases to ensure competitive, compliant bids.
Qualifications
- Ability to interpret civil and utility construction drawings, plans, and specifications, including site, utility, and grading sheets.
- Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and basic cost analysis tools; strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Understanding of underground wet utilities (water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, fire lines) and related construction methods, materials, and equipment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple bids, deadlines, and shifting priorities.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with internal teams, vendors, and clients.
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, safety, and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Ability to work on-site in San Antonio, TX and collaborate closely with project management and field operations.
