Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our reputable dental practice. Duties
- Assist dentists during various procedures including orthodontics and pediatric dentistry
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, maintaining aseptic technique and infection control standards
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Record vital signs and medical history, ensuring accurate documentation in EMR systems
- Manage medical documentation and records efficiently, including medical coding and data entry
- Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral health maintenance
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient flow as a dental receptionist when needed
- Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental assisting
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a clean, organized clinical environment
Skills
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic or similar platforms
- Experience with dental imaging including X-ray techniques and 3D scanning technology
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and best practices for patient confidentiality
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry procedures and pediatric patient management
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently during various dental treatments including four-handed dentistry
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, medical terminology, and infection control protocols
- Skilled in taking vital signs and performing medical imaging accurately
- Experience with general dentistry procedures as well as specialized fields like prosthodontics and endodontics is preferred
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and support team collaboration
