Job Brief
We are hiring a controller or VP of Finance to lead various efforts within the finance department. The role will be responsible for:
- Implementing accounting systems and procedures, especially as related to percentage of completion (POC) accounting, job cost tracking, monthly financial close, etc.
- Data architecture and migration across systems (ERP, job management, etc.)
- All aspects of managing debt: interest and amortization payments, cash forecasting / management, covenant forecasting / management
- Financial reporting including quarterly 3-statement reports and supporting annual audits
- Leading and presenting financial analysis and performance to the CEO and to the Board of Directors; this will be a high visibility role with upside potential
- Oversight of day-to-day accounting activities like accounts payable, accounts receivables, payroll, etc. The hire will report into both the CEO (and founder) and the CFO
- Managing ~2 junior accountant resources
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required)
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in construction or utility contracting
- Hands-on experience using an ERP system for construction accounting, job costing, and billing
- Strong understanding of WIP, revenue recognition, and project-based accounting
- Experience with union payroll, storm work, or multi-state operations preferred
- Advanced Excel skills and strong ERP system proficiency
