Instructor – Florida Scholars Academy (On‑Site, Crestview, FL)
Seeking a mission‑driven educator to support Florida Scholars Academy (FSA), a unified education system operated by Florida Virtual School. FSA serves students ages 10-21 in the care of the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) residential programs across the state, providing a flexible and responsive education system designed to meet individual needs. Through multiple educational pathways, students are empowered to pursue success in ways that align with their goals, strengths, and circumstances.
In this role, you'll be responsible for delivering and assessing instruction aligned with state standards to help students achieve a high school or high school equivalency diploma, an industry-recognized credential that can help them start their career, and/or enroll in a postsecondary program of study at a Florida college, university, or technical college.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging instruction, adapt learning materials, and create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learning needs.
- Supervise students, maintain attendance and records, and uphold effective classroom management and discipline.
- Assess student progress through evaluations, grading, feedback, counseling, and goal‑setting to ensure continuous academic growth.
- Collaborate with colleagues, communicate with families and stakeholders, and model professional and ethical standards.
- Participate in a blended learning model, provide tutoring, use technology effectively, meet professional expectations, and fulfill additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
- Valid Florida Professional Teaching Certificate in content area assigned OR proof of active enrollment in a state-approved EPI or MAT program AND either a valid Florida state-issued Statement of Eligibility OR valid Temporary Certificate in content area assigned
- Exceptional Student Educational (ESE) Certification, preferred
- Gifted Endorsement, preferred
- English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Endorsement, preferred
- Reading Endorsement, preferred
Experience
- Teaching experience OR successful completion of an FLVS instructional internship program OR current enrollment in an approved Educator Preparation Institute (EPI) or Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program.
