Summary
Represents Florida Paints and stores to existing and prospective customers, i.e. contractors, builders, condo associations. Develops business to both existing and potential new customer base.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. To be familiar with the Florida Paints’ product offerings in a reasonable time frame.
2. To be able to specify said products to distributors, contractors and architects and any end user. Updates and product information will be provided by the company.
3. Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, internet web sites, and other sources.
4. Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders, or talks with customers by phone.
5. Displays or demonstrates product, using samples or catalog, and emphasizes salable features.
6. Works with management to obtain quote prices and credit terms for customers.
7. Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm's production and delivery schedules.
8. Prepares reports of business transactions and keeps expense accounts.
9. Works with inside sales representatives to keep account activities and literature up to date.
10. Develops and maintains relationships with purchasing contacts.
11. Investigates and resolves customer problems.
12. Assist store manager with other duties, as needed.
Competencies

Industry or related industrial knowledge
Proven results in selling and relationship building in retail operations and contractor segment sales
PC literate, analytical, time management/prioritization skills
Excellent oral and written presentation skills.
Ability to build relationships with and influence a wide array of personality types from diverse backgrounds
Highly flexible; able to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Must be able to handle confidential information with complete confidence of management
Strong interpersonal skills needed when interacting with external and internal personnel.
Education & Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- College degree preferred, but not necessary
- Spanish speaking a plus
- 2 - 3 years’ outside sales experience
- Paint and Coatings experience a plus
- Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check and drug test
- Must have a valid driver’s license with great driving record
- Must pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state department(s) of transportation regulations.
