Summary
The Area Sales Manager (ASM) is responsible for driving sales performance, expanding the customer base, and fostering strong customer relationships within a defined geographic area, with a focus on driving sales growth and managing a team of sales representatives. Develop sales strategies, analyze market trends, and provide guidance and coaching to sales representatives to drive effective sales performance.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Establish clear sales objectives for each team member to ensure alignment and accountability.
- Develop and implement sales plans to achieve revenue targets and exceed sales goals.
- Direct sales forecasting activities and set performance goals accordingly.
- Lead, motivate, and coach a sales team to achieve performance goals, providing guidance, training, and support.
- Educate and train the team on new products and services to enhance their capabilities.
- Direct staffing, training, and performance evaluations for team members in the assigned region.
- Conduct market research to identify new sales opportunities, analyze competitor activity, and understand customer needs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders.
- Oversee sales activities, manage quotas and budgets, and track sales performance.
- Identify areas for improvement in sales processes and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provide regular reports on sales performance, market trends, and competitor activity.
- Effectively communicate with sales teams, clients, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration and informed decision-making.
- Continually monitor and track regional sales performance.
- Attend trade shows and conventions as needed.
- Manage all financial aspects related to the assigned region.
- Other duties as assigned by leadership.
Requirements
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry sales experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant sales experience.
- Proficiency in CRM systems (HubSpot) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proven ability to manage and grow B2B customer accounts.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving team performance.
- Willingness to travel within the assigned area.
- Must pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state department(s) of transportation regulations.
- Delegate work assignments by matching the responsibility to the employee.
- Effective leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire staff.
- Be organized. Follow all policies and procedures and complete administrative tasks correctly and on time.
- Ability to manage difficult or emotional situations with both customers and employees.
- Observe and follow all safety and security procedures.

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to travel to Florida Paints locations and customer job sites. Travel > 50% of the time.
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Required to stand, walk, and sit; talk or hear, in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms.
