Captains are key in creating a truly great experience at Vines! Our restaurant is unique and busy, so Captains are expected to balance positive guest connections with upscale fine dining service. Captains are passionate for the art of presentation are well-spoken individuals, with upscale charisma and hospitable personality. A Vines Captain is knowledgeable about style, etiquette, wine and cuisine. Captains pride themselves on flawless execution, exceptional guest service and maintaining our upscale vibrant atmosphere.
Our Captains have a passion for people, service, food and guest experience. They are responsible for delivering genuinely tailored hospitality with a strong knowledge of Vines products and company. Our Captains operate extremely efficiently, providing team-based service and a positive and memorable guest experience. Captains must be able to multitask and provide excellent communication with team members and guests. Teamwork is essential and is what we’re all about at Vines!
General Accountabilities
- Presents menu, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food.
- Takes customer orders by writing them down or memorizing them.
- Presents orders to the cooks on behalf of the patrons.
- Serves customers their pre-ordered food.
- Observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed.
- Totals bill and accepts payment or refers patron to cashier.
- Clears or resets table at the end of each course.
- Thanks patrons and kindly invites them back for future dining.

Job Qualifications
- Must represent Vines Mission, Vision and Values
- At least 21 years of age
- Knowledge of and passion for wine, spirits and beer
- Passion for Guest service!
- Hard-working and a team player
- Outgoing personality with excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide friendly and attentive service that makes guests feel well taken care of and builds their intent to return
- Must demonstrate genuine hospitality while greeting and establishing rapport with the guest and delivering an exceptional dining experience
- A minimum of 4-years experience in a full-service restaurant required
- Experience in an upscale casual dining or an equivalent service environment preferred
- Captain/fine dining server with experience in team service Front and Back server
- Demonstrated ability to guide guests through menus while demonstrating thorough knowledge of our food, beverages and ingredients
- Ability to take accurate orders and partnering with team members to serve food and beverages that meet or exceed guests' expectations
- Ability to work flexible shifts and schedules, inclusive of weekends and holidays
- Ability to communicate clearly with Guests, managers and team members
- Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure, in a fast-paced environment
