Job Title: Clinical Lab Assistant
Summary: To perform specimen processing, and clerical duties, in a timely and efficient manner. Display competence in performing all of the job expectations. It is expected that all Clinical Lab Assistants be operationally proficient in all areas of specimen Processing and Clerical duties. Able to stand for long periods of time, and has basic computer skills. This individual should not have a fear of handling blood specimens.

This Full Time position is for a Clinical Laboratory Assistant within the busy Zephyrhills Lab. Schedule would be Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-5:00PM. The role is responsible for performing specimen processing and clerical duties. Must be willing to process blood and body fluid specimens including, pouring body fluids, manually capping specimen collection tubes, and transporting and storing specimen collection tubes. Candidates must be capable of standing for long periods of time and able to lift up to 42 lbs.
Keys to Success in this Role:
- Specimen preparation for testing
- Answer phone and assist callers
- Assist technical staff with performance maintenance
- Deliver result reports
- Keep accurate inventory of supplies
- Perform incidental duties as needed
Job Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Some laboratory experience preferred
- Strong customer service orientation
- Excellent telephone etiquette
- Strong computer skills
- Good communication skills
- Organized and good time management skills.
- Strong team player
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Normal physical ability; able to stand for long periods
- Normal concentration and normal complexity of decision making
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- High level verbal and written communication skills
- Above average ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Able to walk frequently and for long distances
Occupational Exposure:
- High risk exposure to bloodborne pathogens and chemical hazards
