Job summary
Grind, polish, glaze and buff a wide variety of work of unusual and intricate shape or design, requiring considerable care to maintain contours, radii and close dimensions.
Plan operation sequences, select tools and abrasives appropriate for the scope of work.
Ensure equipment is properly maintained and work areas and housekeeping standards are met.
Be vigilant to safety issues, concerns and hazards. Take appropriate action to correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents and injuries.
Maintain records and documentation as applicable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Summary of essential job functions
Perform polisher duties in an efficient, professional, and courteous manner. Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance and punctuality. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and the general public.
Minimum requirements
Must have extensive knowledge of plastic injection molds; both prototype (aluminum) and high volume (steel.) Must know the appropriate tools, abrasives and methods to handle, polish and buff surfaces without damage to the tools. Must be able to work to close tolerances.
Abilities required
Must be able to effectively communicate, both written and verbal. Must have excellent eyesight (corrected) with depth perception. Must be able to work with chemicals with the scope of the application and use. Must be able to hold, handle and/or manipulate using the hands.
