You will work in direct alignment with the Project Manager and field team to ensure decisions are made with full visibility into cost, schedule, risk, and cash flow timing.

WHY YOU WANT THIS OPPORTUNITY

  • Direct and clear communicator
  • Proactive and forward thinking
  • Detail oriented without losing sight of the big picture
  • Comfortable holding others accountable to financial realities
  • Team oriented with the ability to influence without authority

We are not looking for someone to process transactions, we are looking for someone who understands how a project performs financially, works alongside the team, and protects the outcome before issues hit the job.

YOU WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Financial Control and Forecasting: Own project financial performance from buyout through closeout, develop and maintain cost to complete forecasts and projected final cost, identify budget variances and risk exposure early, provide clear recommendations to protect margin and mitigate loss, align financial forecasting with project schedule and procurement strategy.
  • Cash Flow Management: Forecast cash in versus cash out across the lifecycle of the project, identify timing gaps between billing, collections, and subcontractor payments, advise on billing strategy to optimize cash position, work with leadership to ensure liquidity is aligned with project demands.
  • Project Team Collaboration: Partner directly with Project Managers and Superintendents as part of the core project team, participate in project meetings providing financial insight tied to real job conditions, align with field operations on progress, percent complete, and production reality, support decision making with clear real time financial data, this role is embedded in the project team not back office.
  • AIA Billing, Documentation and Compliance: Oversee preparation and review of pay applications using American Institute of Architects formats such as G702 and G703 or equivalent, ensure accuracy of percent complete in coordination with the Project Manager and field team, manage billing cycles, collections, and owner compliance requirements, maintain complete and accurate financial documentation across all projects.
  • Lien Releases and Risk Management: Oversee collection, review, and tracking of subcontractor and supplier lien releases, ensure all conditional and unconditional releases align with payments issued, confirm proper documentation is in place prior to funding and billing, work with the team to eliminate financial and legal exposure on the project.
  • Cost Tracking and Reporting: Track committed costs, change orders, and budget adjustments, maintain accurate job cost structure and coding, provide clear concise reporting to leadership on budget versus actuals, forecasted final cost, cash flow position, risk areas and corrective actions.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

  • Experience in construction financial management, Project controls, or similar role
  • Strong understanding of job cost, contracts, and project lifecycle
  • Proven ability to forecast and manage cost to complete
  • Experience with AIA billing and lien release processes
  • Ability to work cross functionally with operations and accounting teams

HOW SUCCESS IS MEASURED

  • Accuracy and reliability of project financial forecasts
  • Early identification and resolution of cost and cash flow risks
  • Alignment between field progress, billing, and financial reporting
  • Timely and accurate pay applications and collections
  • Zero exposure related to lien releases and documentation gaps
  • Ability to influence outcomes not just report them
