Florida A&M University's Educational Research Center for Child Development (ERCCD) is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for three Child Care Program Specialist vacancies.
Responsibilities
Complete assessment of assigned age-appropriate program in the childcare center and formulates procedures to effectively administer best practices within the age group; Responsible for interpreting childcare rules and policies and for recommending new and improved programs to effectively manage staff and families under the program assigned; Coordinate the implementation of age-appropriate curriculum, lesson planning and parent involvement in the assigned childcare program; Collecting and analyzing data related to the developmental growth of children, individualized learning goals from and for families, and professional development of staff in assigned program; Report monthly for assigned group of participants in the Early Learning Coalition and Child Care Access Means Parents In School; and report monthly for ProCare check-in and inputs account data for new and continuing children.
Family/Visitor Interaction
Have consistent professional, child/work-related, and positive interaction with all families; Maintain positive client relationships and address concerns in a private manner; Consistently follow the procedures, including proper I-Ding and Authorizations; Check sign-in/communication sheets for proper information each day; Approve daily reports and accident reports; and contact families when needed for emergencies and information.
Interaction with Children
Ensure that program is child oriented and support the center’s mission; Models appropriate interactions for the teachers and children; Demonstrates affection by smiling, appropriate touching, and speaking in a calm voice; Makes sure all areas are supervised; Interacts with children while supervising; and is aware of medications, allergies, food intolerances, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma and one year of related experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. Incumbents in a licensed child care facility must meet the requirements of Chapter 402, Florida Statutes.

Driven to provide excellent customer service;
Computer knowledge including typing skills of 50 w.p.m. ability to learn programs quickly;
Knowledge or and ability to use Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point etc.;
Excellent spelling, grammar and punctuation;
Ability to organize the work-flow in a busy office;
Ability to handle detailed work;
Ability to relate and interact appropriately and professionally with families and children;
Ability to lift a minimum of 35 pounds and do position as physically required;
Ability to bend, stand, sit on the floor etc.;
Must be available for continuous employment without gaps other than those allowed in the “Employee Temporary Leaves and/or Absences” section of the Employee handbook;
Tact, discretion and good judgment;
Ability to speak distinctly and to communicate verbally with clients;
Evidence of emotional maturity and stability including the ability to separate personal (emotional) with business/work (facts);
Professional in dress, appearance and overall speech;
Ability to train and supervise other employees;
Be in agreement with philosophy, mission and overall direction of program; and,
Must be able to support the Director and University in all decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
High School Diploma and a minimum of 2 years office/professional leadership experience. A CDA or related childcare credential and at least 3 years as a worker in early childhood or a related field. Incumbents in a licensed child care facility must meet the requirements of Chapter 402, Florida Statutes.

This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.
